Privacy policy

Last updated 21 October 2026

In short: Motora uses your location to show you to the friends and groups you choose and to record your drives. You decide who sees you, and you can turn sharing off at any time. We don't sell your data. Free accounts see ads from Google AdMob; Motora Club members see none.

Who we are

Motora is a car community app for iPhone and Android, based in the United Kingdom. Motora is run by Woul Labs Ltd, a company registered in England and Wales (company number 17541819). In this policy, "Motora", "we" and "us" mean Woul Labs Ltd. We are the data controller for the personal information described here.

What we collect

Your account

Location

Motion

If you turn on automatic drives, Motora uses your phone's motion activity (Motion & Fitness on iPhone, Activity Recognition on Android) to tell driving apart from walking or cycling, and motion sensors to detect harsh driving. It can't tell whether you're the driver or a passenger.

Things you post

Purchases

Motora Club and Carbon are bought through the App Store or Google Play. Apple and Google handle payment; we never see your card details. We receive and keep a record of the transaction so we can give you what you bought.

Ads

Free accounts see some ads from Google AdMob: a few full-screen ads between screens, banners in a couple of lists, and optional ads you can choose to watch for Carbon. Ads never appear in the reel, garage, map, chats or while you're driving. Motora Club members see no ads.

In the UK and EEA, Google's consent form asks whether ads can be personalised. On iPhone, Apple's prompt then asks whether Motora may track you; if you decline, your advertising ID is not shared. Google may use your device's advertising ID, IP address (for approximate location), and information about the ads you see and interact with, to serve and measure ads and prevent fraud. You can change your choice in Motora under Settings → Privacy, or reset your advertising ID in your phone's settings. Google's use of this data is described at policies.google.com/technologies/partner-sites.

Who we share it with

Other Motora users see what you choose to share: your profile, garage, posts, and your location and drives if you share them. We never sell your personal information.

How long we keep it

Your rights

Under UK GDPR you can ask for a copy of your data, ask us to correct or delete it, object to or restrict how we use it, and ask for it in a portable format. You can withdraw consent at any time, for example by turning off location sharing, analytics or personalised ads. To make a request, email privacy@drivemotora.com. We'll reply within one month.

If you're unhappy with how we've handled your data, you can complain to the Information Commissioner's Office at ico.org.uk.
